Frequent questions.
My child has never snowboarded, what's the minimum age?
8 in most of our resorts; from age 3 for Mini-Rider where it's offered (Tignes), from age 5 in Serre Chevalier and Le Grand-Bornand. Below that, a private lesson.
Do you need to already ski to learn snowboard?
No prerequisite at all. Many riders never clipped into skis — the board is learned on its own, at its own pace.
Is the gear provided?
No — board, boots and protection go through Rentals, our equipment partner; book gear ahead of arrival to be safe.
What happens at the end of the week?
Medals handed out on Friday and the starting level for next year, valid across our 16 resorts.
How do I know I picked the right level?
The instructor assesses everyone during the first session. If the group is not the right one, they move the skier the same day, at no cost and with no paperwork.
Is the lift pass included in the lesson?
Never: the lift pass is bought from the lift company. The school tells you from which level it becomes essential.
Is a helmet compulsory?
It is compulsory for children under 13 and in every snowboard lesson, whatever the age. It stays strongly recommended for everyone else. See article 10 of the terms
How many people are there in a group?
The maximum group size is set resort by resort and shown on the page of the lesson you book. See article 9 of the terms
What happens if there is too much snow, or too little?
A lesson can be adapted or cancelled for safety reasons, and weather does not automatically entitle you to a refund. Snow or cancellation insurance covers that risk. See article 6 of the terms
Can I change or cancel my booking?
Up to 30 days before the lessons start, yes, subject to availability; after that, the amounts paid remain due. See articles 5 and 6 of the terms
Are we insured during the lesson?
The school's insurance does not cover the risks of skiing itself. Everyone takes out their own accident, mountain-rescue and medical cover. See article 11 of the terms
